Race Day timetable (2nd April) – details here (10am: Race Briefing for Mountain Run only event at HQ; 10:30am: Start)

The 18km Mountain Run really is something special. Taking you to the highest point in the region, it offers a taste of almost every type of running from native bush tracks, private farm lands and hidden coastal beaches with views over Porirua, Ohariu Valley and Cook Strait. It starts from HQ and runs through Porirua Scenic Reserve and up Colonial Knob where you hop the fence into the private Pikarere Farm and head down to the remote western coast and back over Takapuwahia Reserve to finish at HQ. With 900m of climbing this run is as challenging as it is spectacular. But if you have done a half marathon then you’ll handle our Mountain Run.

Note – there is only ONE drink station on the Mountain Run course – at approximately the 2/3 mark on Pikarere Station. Please carry at least 1 litre of water (no less), snacks and jacket on this course. It is very demanding and exposed to the elements.

Important Notes
> The course is challenging but achievable, with expected finish times between 1.5-3hrs.
> Entrants must be 16 years or older. Younger entrants may be allowed entry on a case by case basis; parents/guardians should contact the race director.

* The majority of the Mountain Run course is on private land not normally open to the public (see course descriptions for more details on which parts). So please respect the land owner’s rules and don’t pre-run these parts of the course prior to race day.
